Hate America??

As many of you know, I often criticize The United States. Many people think I hate America. Not true.

And let’s get over the "America" part.

The United States is NOT America. It is PART of America, which includes Canada, Mexico, all of Central and South America.

Do I hate The United States? No. Quite the contrary. I hate what it has become.

I was born in 1946, at the end of World War II. I was raised in the 50’s and 60’s when families could live on one income. When everyone who wanted a job had one. When people minded their own business and lived simply.

Racism and hatred existed, yes, but mostly in certain pockets of the US where it had festered historically and always among ignorant people. The vast majority of citizens would never have been proud to call themselves racists and they would never have behaved like those on the Right do today. The Republican Party was actually a respectable organization and had some wonderful statesmen in their ranks.

People disagreed, but at the end of the day, they solved problems for the good of the country……not for the benefit of corporations.

Corporate power was held in check by government regulation. The wealthy were held in check by tax laws. People understood that the US tax laws were created to avoid the super rich from taking over our society and not to punish wealth or hinder business.

Today, while we slept, the Fascists that we defeated in World War II have re-emerged in the US. They have bought politicians who have passed laws that make their dictatorial practices legal, while the common man gets jailed at alarming rates for minor crimes.

The police, who once were pillars of the community and held in high esteem, have become militarized and have evolved into a "shoot first, ask questions later" police force which holds themselves as superior to those they serve. Innocent people are killed every day by police while the population cowers in fear.

Religion, that used to be limited to prayers at meals and Sunday sermons in church, has taken over half of the political landscape and now tries to impose their beliefs on those who do not believe.

They re-interpret the Constitution to fit their agenda. They pass laws to further their agenda. They selectively interpret the Bible to further their agenda.

You may say that “it’s still a great country.” I disagree.

What makes it not such a great country is that many of you, who believe that, will sit back silently, claiming it’s still a great country, while more and more of our Rights are taken away by those whose ultimate goal is to control everything we do, buy or think.

The United States WAS a great country. Unless people are willing to directly and strongly challenge the Fascists who are taking over this society, it will never be a great country again.

We will finally become what they planned for us: A third rate Fascist Corporate run state that feeds off the misery of those it dominates.

The Fascist Takeover of The United States....

It has been some time since I have blogged. I have been in Vietnam for the past 5 months, creating a future for me in the part of the world I love best.

During my absence, the United States has drifted deeper into a Fascist Oligarchy. Watching the news from there is both embarrassing and laughable. It is amazing how most citizens of the US have no clue about the rest of the world and world history. They are so busy wallowing in their own shit that they have lost perspective. At the hands of the corporate media...(NO....THERE IS NO LIBERAL MEDIA!).....the population has been lulled into complacency and impotency.

Sad.

Sooooo.....Shaking Hands Is Now Considered Something To Avoid???

President Obama is being criticized by the Right Wing Conservatives for shaking hands of another world leader and a world event where a significant number of world leaders gathered to honor the departed soul of another world leader.

There are two operative words here. "World" and "Leader"......neither of which any of those on the Right can either comprehend or function in.

The Right Wing....especially in the US, have withdrawn any membership in anything to do with the world, except to try to make enemies with most of them and try to create a profit making war to destroy them. The party of hate and paranoia is paralyzed on the world stage. They don't know how to deal with anyone who does not think exactly like them, or look like them, or pray like them, or eat like them.

The second operative word here is "Leader". Those on the Right cannot relate to this concept of taking charge and making tough, pragmatic choices based on circumstances rather than idealogical positions. They follow the Bible. The follow their benefactors. They follow their preachers. They follow their Wall Street masters. They are not leaders. They are fearful little men.

I applaud President Obama for reaching out to make a better world, no matter whose hand is outstretched. It is the way of a spiritual, comfortable man who looks at possibilities rather than fearing the unknown, as those on the Right prefer to do.

I am writing this from a place that knows all to well what it is like to live in a world where people fail to talk, listen or look for compromise: Hanoi, Vietnam.

GOP Veterans Really Confuse Me....

The Right Wing loves to talk about the military, gets a hard on about starting wars, but when it comes to taking care of veterans after they do their duty...they are not present.....and ignorant, propagandized vets still vote for them!!! Unbelievable.

Why do you think the call it "Faith"?

It is obvious , now more than ever, that Karl Marx was correct in at least one sense...."Religion is the Opiate of the Masses".

Religion is being used more and more to define the "reality" of the world we live in. Only one problem.......religion is almost wholly based on unknowns....therefore is unreal. Through the use of tales, personal anecdotes, and outright fiction, those in power continue to control the masses through fear and misinformation.

Killing violence and mayhem in the name of religion is just plain wrong. Anyone who supports this idea has no idea what the true purpose of belief in a higher power means.

Religion is meant to be personal. Keep it that way. It is all unproven.

The Gun Control argument is a joke.....on both sides.

I am a lefty. I am a veteran. I own guns.

This whole "Gun Control" thing is a political joke.

The view from the Right is that we need guns to protect our homeland and to protect ourselves from the "government".

The view from the Left is that we need to control guns through strict registration processes.

Both are bogus positions.

First, criminals do not  buy guns legally, so registering only affects those law abiding citizens that will buy their guns at gun shows and at gun stores.

Second, if you think that you are going to be able to launch an assault on the US Government with your AK-47's and your AR-15's, think again. You are no match for an Apache Assault Helicopter. They will blow you out of the water.

Anyone who votes any way because of this issue is a fool. You are being used.
